Between Two Worlds—The Emergence of Truth in Turbulent Times

The world was our solace. Now the world is reflecting the experiences of our childhood.

Tidal Reflection by Janet Thomas

A note regarding the following: I posted this on social media and it was one of the most challenging and frightening things I’ve done as a survivor. I wrote a book about my experiences (Day Breaks Over Dharamsala), but writing a book is done in safety and solitude. Posting on social media, however, is exposure up-for-grabs. It was excruciating. But these times are excruciating. They call out for our voices in all their vulnerable warrior complexity. “Coming out” to one another helps us all. “Coming out” to the world can now help the world.

I am part of a worldwide community of survivors who experienced mind-control experimentation, medical experimentation, sexual exploitation, and spiritual denigration throughout our childhoods. For some miraculous reason, we lived to tell about it. The world was our solace. Now the world is reflecting the experiences of our childhood. Our experiences came out of Hitler’s Nazi mind control experiments and its accompanying “occultism.” Mine started in England and continued in Montreal and Vancouver, Canada. (My book, Day Breaks Over Dharamsala—A Memoir of Life Lost and Found is about my spiritual healing journey.) A large number of Nazi scientists were brought to the U.S. to continue this program. The CIA-funded mind-control programming run by Dr. Ewen Cameron at McGill University in Montreal was sued by some Canadian survivors. They won a $750,000 settlement in 1988

These programs continue throughout the world. (Many of my survivor friends are a lot younger than I am.) When I wrote Battle in Seattle, Naomi Klein’s book No Logo was a great resource. Her book Shock Doctrine, is a thorough exploration of how mind control works—on individuals and in society. I suffered a lot of electro-shock—some of it in a test to see if a year of electro-shock treatments would restore nerve damage in my arm. I have an 4″ incision scar down the inside of my left arm where nerves were cut, five-year-old fingers that are short & numb, and a thumb that will not bend—all a result of medical experimentation. (All my writing is done with my right hand.) I also had a lot of electro-shock to destroy memory and to create subjugation. It is not easy to share this. But as the world unfurls in its madness, all the survivors I know are stunned at the subverted and overt manipulation that is such a painfully public reflection of our private and personal experiences.

Once again, this is very difficult to share. But silence is now collusion.

  1. Ruth Apter says:

I am reading your book Janet. Very slowly. Only a few pages each night. Walking slowly next to you in wonder at your survival and your ability to articulate.

  2. Thank you for sharing such horrible yet enlightening truth so honestly dear Janet! I stand with you in truth and honesty, I add my voice to yours, at least here and now, in this venue. Speaking out, “coming out”, as you call it, is crucial in these times, though it remains challenging and triggering each and every time, for you, for me, and for other survivors of the terrors and tortures you describe.

I stand with you Janet, and I call upon other survivors to “come out” – speak your truth, tell your story, stand up for what you believe in, take your own kind of wise and inspired actions to help stop the wrongs and build the truth and honesty that the future must hold to bring us out of these turbulent times. Help transform our reality, fill it with love and light, compassion and integrity. Every one of us has a piece we can contribute to positive change! What is your piece?
